As reported in a post on the 20th of February 2014, an important early English longcase clock by Joseph Knibb came up for auction at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions’ sale of Fine Clocks, Barometers & Scientific Instruments on Tuesday 11th March.
The clock sold for an impressive £286,800 ($528,467), more than doubling its pre-sale estimate of £80,000 – 120,000.

Are the Chinese suddenly buying Knibb clocks, or is there a reasonable explanation for the discrepancy between the estimate and realised price?
Either way, it’s quite a result!

I checked out the link to Dreweatts & Bloomsbury. Will we be seeing a reproduction of the magnificent Irish mahogany table in the forseeable future?

Much as I like the Irish table, I feel it would look out of place amongst our simpler furnishings.
