LAPADA Art & Antiques Fair 2015

The 2015 LAPADA Art & Antiques Fair will run from Tuesday the 22nd of September to Sunday the 27th of September at its usual venue in Berkley Square, London W1J.

The following pictures are from a series of forty nineteenth-century Scottish watercolours, presented by antiques dealer, Christopher Clarke, which were awarded second prize by both judges and the public in the LAPADA Object of the Year 2013.

    Interesting drawings from a historical perspective. While the “artist” does not appear to be formally trained (tentative line and stiffly rendered appendages etc.), the drawings still convey quite a bit of “life”.

    We bought the Howie watercolours because we thought they were important in that they showed every day folk doing every day jobs. Something you don’t often see. We wanted them to go to a public institution so that the public and researchers would have access to them.
    They have been bought by the Edinburgh City Archives which is great news.
