Guessing Game

Would anyone care to hazard a guess as to the identity of this wood and speculate what I’m doing with it? (There’s a clue elsewhere in this blog.)

There was going to be a prize for the correct answers – a large Lindt chocolate rabbit – but I ate it. Sorry.

Hmm…

After almost four hundred views, I think it’s time for a further clue…

Oh… oh… oh, it’s um…

Over 450 views and still no correct guesses, so here’s a giveaway clue…

This should do it.

All will be revealed in the next day or so.

    Hi Jack,
Mayhaps you are exhibiting a spill of nice Pinus Radiata… Ideal for winter firelighters..

No chaps, it’s not a Pinus or an Abies. It’s not even a member of the Pinaceae family, nor is it a soft wood.

I don’t feel so bad now for eating the rabbit.

There’s one constantly evolving post on this blog that holds the secret.

    Looks like pine to me.

    The rabbit sounds delicious.

I have to guess it is Ash, for you’ve used that type of wood for some previous projects. Is this shaving to be used as decorative veneering?

Just as I hit “Post” with my previous comment I realized that your chocolate rabbit may be a hint – are you weaving an ash easter egg basket?

  7. Jack Plane says:

No, not ash either, and it’s not for a basket… a basket case maybe! I’ve added another clue.

  9. Looks like a fruit wood. Cherry maybe (do you have access to that down under)? On second thought, there are an awful lot of lemons pictured in your posts :).

No, not a pine, nor a fruitwood, nor lemon.

I’ll give it another day and then all will be revealed.

Ignore that last one, I didn’t see the tree pic. Yew has needles.
